SVS appointed by John Lewis Partnership to provide new Gift Card Programme
Leading global Gift Card provider, Stored Value Solutions (SVS), has been appointed by the John Lewis Partnership to deliver a new Gift Card programme for both the John Lewis and Waitrose retail divisions. The programme – which launched across the Partnership on 5th August 2014 in preparation for the peak Christmas season – is a new departure for John Lewis and Waitrose, as both brands had previously run a successful paper gift voucher programme. The Gift Cards can be bought and redeemed in store and online in Waitrose and John Lewis.
SVS is delivering services to the retail stores, their websites, and the B2B and B2C businesses. Germain Roesch, Managing Director of SVS International, said: “This is the beginning of a long term relationship between SVS and the John Lewis Partnership. We have worked closely with John Lewis towards a seamless transition and this new programme promises to deliver many benefits for all involved.”
The John Lewis Partnership Gift Card programme is one of the largest of its type in the UK. The introduction of Gift Cards simultaneously into Waitrose and John Lewis stores is one of the largest pan-partnership IT projects ever implemented between the John Lewis and Waitrose brands.
Jon Walkington, Vice President of Commercial & Business Development at SVS, said: “We are delighted to be able to partner with two of the UK’s foremost retail brands. Moving their programme from paper to plastic is a big step forward. This move makes good business sense and satisfies customer preferences.
“Our Technical, Account Management and Card Production teams have worked closely with the team at the John Lewis Partnership, which consisted of representatives from both retail brands and Partnership Services. This ensured a smooth roll-out across more than 360 stores and the websites of both brands – a tribute to the professionalism of both companies.
“Last month’s successful launch was underpinned by fantastic engagement from the Partners at John Lewis and Waitrose, coupled with excellent merchandising. SVS managed card and carrier production, the initial distribution to stores for launch and will also manage the ongoing store replenishment by SKU. John Lewis and Waitrose customers have given the new products the thumbs up too, as initial sales have been extremely positive, surpassing all expectations.”
Sean Allam, Commercial Director at John Lewis said: “In this, John Lewis’ 150th year of delivering quality and value to our customers, we are pleased to be providing our customers with a new programme designed to offer them flexibility and choice. Our successful voucher programme is a very important part of our business. We needed to be certain that when we migrated, we would add value to our customers and to our business. The experience and functionality offered by SVS was a perfect fit for us. We are delighted with the launch and we are looking forward to further developing the programme in the months and years ahead.”
